Rebecca is a Registered Yoga Teacher and a Certified Yoga Therapist though the Asheville Yoga Center. She is also a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). Rebecca has experience teaching athletes, cancer survivors, joint-replacement recipients, and veterans to use yoga as a part of their respective training and recovery programs.
Rebecca’s yoga journey began in 2001. She was training for her first marathon and needed relief for sore hips and a sore lower back. She immediately fell in love with yoga. Her practice gradually grew deeper over the next ten years. In 2011, Rebecca had a devastating bicycle accident. Yoga and massage therapy gave her a recovery that no one ever dreamed possible. Yoga came to the forefront of Rebecca’s life, and she felt led to share its affects of physical, emotional, and spiritual healing with others.
Rebecca has a diverse background. She is a veteran of the Air Force, and she studied nursing, emergency medicine, and pre-law in college. Rebecca worked in corporate America for a large insurance company. She now home-schools her two children, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. Rebecca uses yogic breathing techniques and various postures as part of the daily therapy for autism.
Rebecca’s philosophy is that one person can, indeed, change the world, one smile or small act of kindness at a time. Rebecca strives to meet each student where they are in their practice, so that they can also experience the peace that comes with moving into stillness.
